About Statue of Unity

The Statue of Unity is the tallest statue in the world. It is 600 ft tall. Its construction took 2,500,000 cubic feet of concrete, 5700 tons of steel structure and 18,500 tons of reinforced steel rods, and 12,000 bronze panels weighing 1700 tons. It is the most visited place and a popular tourist destination.

Where to Book Your Trip?

We were very excited to spend our holidays at the Statue of Unity Tent City as it has everything to fill our time with thrill, joy and relaxation. We wanted to make it a refreshing experience. So I asked for the statue of unity tent city booking price at  ‘Aasan Holidays’ and I got a great deal. I booked the whole trip with them. They have provided me with cab service from Ahmedabad and return and booking in Tent City.

How to reach?

Rajpipla is the nearest city to the statue of unity, which is just 25 km away. Other nearest cities are Vadodara – 90 km away, Surat – 150 km away and Ahmedabad – 200 km away from the Statue of Unity. Once you reach the above-said city by train, air or bus, you can hire a cab or take a bus to Kevadia district. From there, you need to take local autos from the Kevadia bus stop to the monument. We travelled by car, so we reached the monument directly.

Where to stay?

There are several staying options available near the Statue of Unity. They all facilitate comfortable accommodations with delicious cuisine.

We have decided to stay at Tent City Narmada. It has Deluxe AC Tents, Premium AC Tents and Standard Non-AC Tents. We have chosen a Premium AC Tent for us.  It was facilitated with a double bed, cozy seating area, spacious front porch, attached bathroom with western toilets, toiletries, tea/ coffee maker, air conditioner,  room heater and 24 hours running hot and cold water. It was actually a luxurious stay.

How do you spend your time at the Statue of Unity?

We checked-in at 12pm. After getting fresh we took our lunch in the dining area. The food was yummylicious. We ate to our heart content.

We took some rest and around 2.30 pm we went to visit Sardar Sarovar Dam View. The Dam is surrounded by natural beauty, flowers and mountains. We took lots of selfies at Selfie Point. Visiting the Valley of Flowers was an unforgettable experience. It includes all-season flowers like Calendula, Marigold, Vinca, Sunflower, etc. In the first phase it covered 250 hectares of the area and now at the end of the development phase it covers 3000 hectares of area with the valley of flowers. It seems like a dream land.

From there around 4.00pm we went to see the main attraction, the Statue of Unity. Our package includes the basic entry ticket. Inside the Statue, there are 3 star hotels, research center, shopping centers, museum and high speed elevators to take you up to 400 feet of the statue that is up to the chest level of the statue.

Around 6.00 pm we were provided with light refreshment.

And at 6.45 pm we attend the Laser Show. It was included in our package. It was amazing.

After that around 8.00 pm we took a tour around the statue of unity. The tall statue stands between the Satpuda and Vindhyachal mountain range on river Narmada at night with the magnificent yellow lights that were a treat to eyes. Circuit house, Vishva Van, Cactus garden and butterfly garden look more vibrant at night.

Around 9.00 we had dinner at the dining area. We were tired though fully excited as all the views were running in our mind like a movie.

We went to our tent and again it was a good feeling with a warm water bath and a cosy bed.

Next morning was so refreshing as we felt we were in the holy arms of mother nature. We had our morning tea. And we got ready to depart, but we really wanted to stay longer. There are many more attractions left to discover. One night’s stay is not enough. One should spare at least 2 to 3 days to discover all the attractions in and around the Statue of Unity.

Activities in and around Statue of Unity

There are many adventurous activities and places to visit for different age groups. Helicopter ride, Boating ride, Riverfront Cycling, Yoga, Trekking, River rafting, Games, Shoolpaneshwar wildlife sanctuary, Zarwani eco-tourism, Dino trail, Children Nutrition park, Glow garden, pet zone and many more activities to do in and around the Statue of Unity. Though with the limitations of time, we could not be part of such activities. But decided that next time we will spare more time and witness all the activities and visit nearby historical places.

How to Return?

As we have booked a cab from Ahmedabad, it has become easy for us to return to Ahmedabad.

If you have not booked your car, then you need to reach Kevadia district by auto. From Kevadia you will get the bus to your city.
